Editorial policy: sources, scoring and separation

How the material on this site is produced, what it is based on, how often it is re-checked, and the wall between the commercial side and the assessments. Published so you can hold us to it.

What we use as source material

The Gambling Commission's public register, for licence status and the licensed domain — checked before an operator is listed and re-checked on the monthly cycle.
The operator's own live site: the game lobby, the live-casino section, the studios represented, the account settings and the safer-gambling tools.
The operator's published terms and offer conditions, for the type and shape of a welcome promotion.
Published regulatory rules and guidance, for anything we state about how gambling works in Great Britain.

What we do not use: operator-supplied copy presented as our own, press releases treated as fact, user testimonials, review counts, or figures we cannot trace to a source that a reader could check. Where a fact cannot be verified — a licence number we have not confirmed, for instance — the field is left out rather than approximated.

How the score is built

Each operator is marked against eight criteria and the results are weighted. Game variety and live tables carry the most weight because they are what separates one licensed casino from another in practice.

Weighting applied to each criterion in the overall score out of ten.

A current licence is a condition of being listed at all, not a way to earn points: an operator without one is removed rather than marked down. Scores are rounded to one decimal place, and a change of less than that is not published as a change.

How often entries are re-checked

Every listed operator is reviewed monthly, and the date of the last check appears on its card. Anything that materially changes the row — a licence status change, a live-casino section that disappears, a lobby rebuild — is applied when we find it rather than held for the next cycle. If a licence lapses, the operator comes off the table the same day we see it.

Separation of commercial and editorial

Criteria and weights are set before operators are assessed, and apply to all of them equally.
Commission rates play no part in scoring or ordering, and are not visible during assessment.
No operator receives a review in advance, and none has a right of reply that changes a score.
Commercial enquiries are handled separately from editorial work and cannot buy a rating or a badge.
The funding model is disclosed on the homepage and in full in the affiliate disclosure.

Attribution and corrections

Material is published under the site's own editorial desk. We do not invent named authors, biographies or photographs, and we do not claim a team larger than the one that exists. Errors are corrected promptly and dated on the page they affect — the corrections page explains how to report one and what happens next.
